Trinity Episcopal School
Family Service Program Policy
Each Family is required to earn 10 Units of Service Credit each school year. Each Family is required to pay as a tuition obligation $40.00 for each unearned Service Credit Unit not completed before May 1st. All accounts for Service Credits will be maintained in the school’s accounting system and documentation must be provided to the office no later than May 1st. These Units may be earned in many ways.
Fall Gala & Silent Auction Committee Service – By helping with the School’s single largest fund raising event, a Family may earn 1 Unit of Service Credit for each qualified hour served on a Fall Gala committee. The qualifications for the hours served will be determined by the Fall Gala Chairperson who will make a recommendation to the administration for approval. The Family is responsible for obtaining approved documentation of the hours served to act as a receipt for Service Credit Units earned. A form will be available in the school office to use for this purpose.
Other Service Acts – A Family may also earn Service Credit Units through the performance of other services to the school. Credits falling into this category must be submitted for approval to the administration and the documentation related to these Service Credit Units will be the sole responsibility of the Family.
In order to qualify, the Service Act performed must either generate income for the school or offset an actual out of pocket expense for the school.
Examples of acceptable Service Acts may include but are not limited to, the generation of income through various Friends of Trinity and School sponsored fundraisers; providing a service to the school or the performance of needed labor for the school which is pre-approved by the administration. In general, each Unit earned must have a value of $40.00 in net profit to the fundraiser or cost savings to the school. A form will be available in the school office to use for submitting these requests.
“Family” is defined as the parents or responsible guardians of any one student, or more than one student if the students are siblings living in one household. Any member of that Family, including grandparents or other relatives or friends, may perform the Service Acts required to meet a Family’s commitment.
Service Credit Units earned in excess of the 10 required may not be used to offset tuition cost, nor may they be carried forward to the following school year; however, they should be documented and may be considered in the awarding of financial aid in cases where this applies.
